The three year project allowed the Rep to expand its scope and explore the classics' modern relevance. Produced in the 2,000 seat Belk Theatre, the company included 100 actors, musicians, dancers and singers. A Midsummer Night's Dream broke the center's existing box office record.

The historic partnership (using complete texts and scores rather than abridged versions) was produced over three consecutive years and was an opportunity to explore the scope of the stories in new and collaborative ways. It was also a chance to integrate the work of four organizations in theatre, music and dance (Charlotte Rep, Charlotte Symphony, Oratorio Singers, members of N.C. Dance Theatre). The production designs found ways to reveal, conceal, and incorporate the orchestra. The music and the musicians became personifications of the Midsummer magic, the power of the Verona families, and a mirror of the Duke of Milan's former power and postion.
